The scientific paper “Overview: State-of-the art commercial membranes for anion exchange membrane water electrolysis” has been published on the last issue (31 July 2020) of the Journal of Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage.
The paper presents target values and technical requirements for Anion Exchange Membranes (AEMs), discusses the chemical structures involved and the related degradation pathways, and gives an overview over the most prominent and promising commercial AEMs (Fumatech Fumasep® FAA3, Tokuyama A201, Ionomr Aemion™, Dioxide materials Sustainion®, and membranes commercialized by Orion Polymer), and reviews their properties and performances of water electrolyzers using these membranes.
